I would went for the intel core 2 duo, as I am an Intel fan but I have read in a few threads in here about AMD fan turning into the INTEL CORE 2 DUO because of perfomance. There are also a few that suggest waiting a couple of months or so if not sooner for the Santa Rosa version. Hopes that helps any...

Better GPU in the dv2213ca than the 640m plus you get a 64-bit capable CPU (I wouldn't touch the Core Duo at this point, get a C2D if you have to buy Intel). Battery life is better on Intel, mostly due to the power efficiency provided by its weak integrated GPU chipset. Performance is good on either.

    Hello!

Let me get straight to the point. Intel Core2 Duos have better
performance, efficiency, battery life etc etc than any current
    AMD platform.

....now since that is out of the way.....

    I have a Turion X2 1.8 1MB cache (DV2000z CTO)
    1.2 gb 667 ram
    160gb hd

I run newsbin pro, winrar, quickpar (winrar quickpar---integrated with newsbin btw), winamp,
firefox and not to mention all my usenet downloads, simultaneously,
and I dont suffer any lag in performance.

Honestly, the overall performance of my laptop leaves very little to be desired.

Word processing and browsing is a breeze.
I also have comodo firewall, daemon tools, comodo av and diskkeeper running
    in the background.

Processor occupancy reaches 50 to 60 percent at its most intense periods:
when i am downloading, quickparing and winraring and playing tunes all at the same time.

Now you can only imagine how much quicker and efficient a similarly clocked core2duo would perform.
Obviously much faster, especially the C2D 7200 (2.00ghz). That is a speed demon.

My reasons for purchasng the AMD was based purely on price.
If battery life, cutting edge performance is important to you, get a Core2duo.

If you are a cheapo like me, get the AMD.

It serves my purpose so I am happy and would recommend it to anyone.

    Good luck.
