Okay, so I have an older dv2315nr that's running vista 32bit. It's got 1gb of ram. I was wondering if going to windows 7 will I be able to utilize >3gb of ram? So if I use 2X2gb or 2X4gb ddr2 sodimm, would it work? I'm upgrading the processor as well but that's another story. thanks in advance especially being my first post!

Upgrade to latest bios version before you do anything else.

2x2GB would work for 99.99%. If you have Win7 64bit, you can use all 4GB ram properly. With 32bit Windows you are limited to 4GB minus all devices such as the GPU, usually something between 3.8GB to 2.8GB.

2x4GB I have no idea. I haven't heard anyone even trying that yet.

Thanks for the reply. I might just do the 2X2gb since the 2X4gb would be an expensive experiment if it can't utilize the amount.
