Hello. My wireless adaptor on my Dv2418nr is not turning on. The switch goes back and forth and appears to work correctly, but the light stays orange. When i run ipconfig, it doesnt reconize anything other than my hard wire line. I currenty dont have access to the computer with internet, but I dont believe its the drivers because i didnt change anything regarding that. I have recently uninstalled UBUNTU because i couldnt get itunes to work with it, so I dont know what to do. I have read someone online that this was a problem with the 6000 and 9000 series laptops but what about the 2000???
Let me know if you know anything.
Thanks
Steve

Have you checked this list?
-
no im not on that list.
I am going to install teh drivers for the wirelss card when i get home in a few mins and then i will see if that satisfiys the problem. -
well no luck with the drivers.
I cannot acess HP Wireless Assistant either. I can click, the spinning cirlce comes up, nothing happens after that.
When i search ipconfig with cmd, i do not find anything for wireless card.
If someone has had this problem please chime in. -
well i reinstalled ubuntu, no luck with teh adaptor turning on....... my ipconfig doesnt even aknowledge its existence.

You can try replacing the wifi card, but if it still doesnt work then your motherboard is the issue.
I suggest contacting HP and telling them about the motherboard issue. A few members managed to persuade them into replacing it even if its not under the enhanced warranty list. -
yea i am planning on CALLING HP today and asking to speak with a manager....there are too many service workers there anymore that do not speak fluent english. Im not racist at all its just that when you have a problem with a product, you dont want a language barrier to get in the way.
How extensive is the wifi card to repalce? I might take it apart to see if maybe something became un hooked, but wait, wouldnt that mean the ornage light wouldnt glow? -

Pavilion dv2418nr specifications
You have a NVIDIA GeForce 6150 chipset, therefore your notebook belongs on HP's list. The list is incomplete. Your chipset is failing, eventually your notebook won't even boot. Backup your data ASAP and call HP. -
oh i back up my data daily, taht why i bought a 1TB external. Okay, so when i call HP, should i just confront them and tell them taht i know i am on the list or what? I wasnt aware it was teh 6150 that was effecting everything. THANKS ALOT!!!

They have to be able to test it so guess you'll have to wait until it breaks again?
If you haven't done so already, flash in the BIOS update that forces the fan to run 24x7. -
as for the bios. How do I do that? Is that included in the F.9c update? (i think taht was the last bios available) This things gets really got and i would love to let the fan run 24x7 -
oh and why isnt my pc on the list of computers to be fixed? I just find that odd if i am entiled to a repair.

You mean F.3C? Yes. Definitely install it.
It's best not to ask logical questions about HP support.
