hey, I'm ordering a dv2500 over the weekend...and since I'm not very knowledgeable about notebooks, I was wondering how hard it is to upgrade the RAM? I have all the high end components you can configure it for $1297.99 (2.0 Ghz C2D, nvdia 8400GS, etc), but I only have 1GB. I can always buy a stick later and upgrade right?

Yes, RAM upgrade is definately possible and it should be pretty pain-free since both RAM slots should easily be accessible through a bay underneath the notebook.

RAM would have to be the easiest possible upgrade to make to a laptop. You will definitely upgrade your RAM down the road. When you do, you will find that it is very easy to do. Most notebooks are designed in such a way that it is easy to upgrade RAM in the future.

well yes you can upgrade later, but the problem is that if you have 512 x2 that means you can only upgrade if you take one of the stick (or both) and replace it.

I found a setting in the dv2500 BIOS that lets you change the dedicated graphics RAM to 128MB. Then, in the Display Settings in Windows, you end up with 271MB Shared System Memory, for a total of 399MB available for video.
Definitely go to 2GB system RAM if you do this. I also have a 2GB usb stick for Readyboost.
