I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I just picked up a dv2550se from Best Buy and it came with the huge 12 cell battery that I don't like.
I am looking to buy a 6 cell, and with the way HP changes the numbers of their batteries I can't find any information on whether a dv2000 battery will work. Can anyone confirm this?
I have tried the battery from my dv1000, which looks the same but doesn't fit.
any insight would be appreciated

The model number for the 6 cell battery for the dv2550se is EV088AA, and the 12 cell battery is EV089AA, I purchased this battery from ebay:

I'm not sure if I even ordered the right one, but it states that it is a 4400mah which is just the same stats as the 6 cell. You can also try to do the search by typing "dv2000 battery" Hope that helps =) -
The dv2000, dv2500, dv6000, and dv6500 all use the same batteries.

would highly recommend buying a genuine hp battery from hp online itself. (you don't know how long the third party batteries have been on shelf). That said, any dv 2000 series battery will work with your notebook. would recommend the high capacity 6 cell.

i like the 12 cell. gets longer life but adds a bit of weight but gives you a ledge to grip onto the notebook while carrying it by hand. like the tilt it gives as well.
dv2500/dv2550se 6 cell battery
