Greetings - Thanks to all but especially robvia for the guidance received here. I have had my 6500t at home for just over three hours and its up and running with XP Pro. Only made two changes - I used the Realtek audio from the ASUS site (Realtek was incredibly slow) for the F3T/XP and ditto for the Motorola SM-56 modem. I have thus far been unsuccessful at increasing anyone's rep points but I just attempted for robvia. Oh - Vista on the 6500t had over 1000 fragmented files and over 10,000 fragments - great job H-P!!

Hey guys i just followed this guide but I have a slight problem. Everything seemed to install except some "PCI Device" (I have the same exact laptop as the one in the guide, the dv6500). The only difference is that I'm installing windows XP service pack 1 and not service pack 2 (I don't particularly like service pack 2 but thats a story for a different time).

This is how it shows up in my hardware profile:
"PCI Device". (with a yellow exclamation point)

Bilscrypt Verisoft Access Manager is the only thing in the guide that I haven't installed just because i have no idea what it is. I installed everything else at the bottom of the nogodforme hp6500 page.

I can post a screenshot of my hardware manager if anyone needs information

The reason this happens is still up in the air. If you're running XP, the newer Forceware video driver will take care of it.

For either operating system, I tell the laptop to do nothing when the lid is shut. That seems to help. If I want the laptop to sleep, I click on Start, then Standby and don't worry what the lid does.

    Hi Everyone.
I have purchased a HP Pavilion Pavilion dv9700. I am having Windows Vista 64 bit preinstalled with it. But i want to install XP Professional in it. My laptop configuration is

HP Pavilion dv9700t Entertainment CTO NB
    - Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    - Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T5750 (2.0GHz)
    - 17.0" diagonal WXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900)
    - 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    - 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
    - 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    - Webcam + Fingerprint Reader
    - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection and Bluetooth(TM)
    - LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    - No TV Tuner w/remote control
    - 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    - Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
    - HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

I am facing a lot of problem in installing XP Pro in it.and getting no useful support for that. Like dv6500 i dont have option to disable native SATA support in my system. Does XP Pro installation proceedure of dv6500 will work on my system also.

so please can anybody tell me that how i can install XP on my system.
I am very concern becoz many of my applications are not working on Vista plateform and any how i wanna get rid if Vista from my system.

Please reply if anybody has done that or know about that.

    Thanks u All

Nevermind on this post i finally figured it out, now all my devices are running on Win Xp X64 on my HP Dv6500.

If anyone else wants to know i used the Ricoh install driver for Vista from the Hp website and it worked.
