When I start the laptop (from restart/shutdown/hibernate state) the display remains OFF, OFF like the laptop is OFF, then as soon Vista login screen comes up the display turns ON, but the resolution is not 1280x800 but 1024x768
And the display is aligned to the left, so leaving a portion of display in the right side blank. When I go to display properties, 1024x768 is the maximum resolution that I can set. Also when I go to advanced graphics properties and Click “List All Modes” the maximum value it shows is 1024x768 whereas in the normal operational mode it is 1280x800.

This problem came yesterday, and after some hour of exploration, I opened the hard disk enclosure, I removed the CELL for 2-3 minutes (causing BIOS to reset) and when I turned on the laptop again its working fine. But this problem is coming everytime I restart/hibernate/shutdown the laptop since yesterday.

Please suggest solution, or identify what could be the problem.

    Thanks
