My girlfriend's dv2500t currently has a t7500 merom. Can it be upgraded to a T9300 penryn? I'm not so much interested in increased performance as in reduced power usage and less heat.

(Yes, I have dissembled the notebook in the past to replace the heatsink/fan unit, so I know how to get to the cpu.)

Also, it currently has 4GB of ram. Is this the max or can it be upgraded to 8GB?

yes you can upgrade it to a t9300, t9500, or probably even x9000 (a dv9700 was able to do this upgrade with the same intel pm965 chipset, though it's clock generator will be locked and it will be running stock speeds) as far as i know the maximum ram for for our unit is 4gb.
