Anyone else feel the left side where you rest your palm gets really warm, or hot especially when you're playing games? It may be nice during a cold night but daytime, it kind of irritates my hands.

Also, anyone notice when they type fast on the HP keyboard that the cursor sometimes ends up in some different part of the sentence that it screws you up? Am I accidentally hitting something or is there some kind of problem with my keyboard? It's really annoying.

It's well documented that the palm rest on HPs get hot.

    Yes on both:

My DV6000Z gets hot on the touchpad (irritates my finger tip), warm on the palm rests, and hot on the center bottom. Heat is now going to be a number one thing to consider on my next notebook purchase.

You are probably accidentally tapping your thumb on the touchpad (I do this sometimes, but got used to it after a while). Try pushing the touchpad-off button and try typing fast again and see if it does it. If it does, it could be a problem with your laptop.

Yes mine gets warm but never that hot unless im playing games, where the dual cores reach up to 70degrees, at that case i usually have to use the laptop cooler anyway.

Get a temperature program like Coretemp or SpeedFan to see what temperatures you get. The cores should idle anywhere around 35-55 and go up to 70ish at heavy usage

    I believe this is normal,
As long as it does not run intense program, it does not get hot for me,
idle is HD 40-50 CPU 45-55 GPU 55-65 for me

You were right. After disabling the touchpad, it seems I can type fast without the cursor going to some random word in the sentence. Thanks! (I use a notebook mouse anyway)

Yeah, it gets really hot when I'm playing game.
I installed SpeedFan and it says
    HD0: 49C
    Temp1: 48 C
    Temp2: 48 C
    Core 0: 25 C
    Core 1: 25 C
    Core: 53 C
    Ambient: 0 C

I'm not doing anything intense so the laptop doesn't feel that hot right now. It's mainly when playing games that it can get to a point where it can slightly burn.

I'm never heard of laptop coolers before, so can anyone recommend a good one for the DV2500t?

Type laptop cooler or laptop cooling pad on ebay or comp e-stores. These external coolers are NOT portable and best used when playing games on your desk or so. They can keep the total temps down by alot, helping extending the life of your notebook.

I purchased a cheap one with 3 fans and plugs in by USB, works like a charm. I notice anywhere from 5-10degrees cooler when its plugged in. I bought the 3 fan because the fans are positioned where most of the heat is being made.

Mine gets quite warm - HDD idles @ 45C

This is why I wish new Hybrid HDDs would make their way to market.

Does that fit well on the dv2500t with the 12-cell battery? Do those three fans make a loud noise? It looks pretty nice... I may buy that. Anyone else recommend a different cooler?

Its the perfect size for the dv2500, measurements below. Im pretty sure the 12cell would be the same as it just sits a little higher

The fans make a fair amount of noise, just like most computer fans nothing too loud or distracting. Theres also a 2 fan version but 3 fan version has better cooling positions.

Their on ebay for about $15-20. I bought it cause its simple, cheap and looks cost effective.

    Heres the specs:
    -USB as power source
-Cool blue light with stylish design
    -Air Flow : 30 CFM
    -Speed : 3000 RPM
    -Noise : 21dBA
    -Voltage: DC 5V
    -Power: 1.3W
    -Current: 0.26A
    -3 pcs fan : 6 X 6 X 1.5cm
    -Dimension : 30 X 25 X 5cm
    -Truly plug-and-play, hot swappable
    -Perfect for portable user
    -100% Brand New.

Thanks, besides the temperature dropping, does that help cool the left side where you rest your palm? Especially when you play games or something intensive? Also can you turn off those blue LEDs? Is it really bright having it under your laptop? It seems like it would match nicely with the HP since it has a bunch of blue LEDs too.

It helps cool the palm rest just abit, since the fan is below it mostly sucks the hot air out from the bottom, only reducing the palm rests surface a little. I dont seem to have a problem with mine, i notice its warm when im gaming but doesnt really bother me. Try an Ext keyboard if it bugs you that much

As for the light, you cant turn them off but their not really that bright on the day time, only at night when its dark. The lights really do suit the dv2500's blue LED them. I dont think youd wanna get rid of the fans lights once you see it.

External keyboard... I never thought about that. Anyway, thanks for your input. I'll give that ebay cooler a try. It's generic, right?
