i can't seem to fix this lagging on my 2500t, i am running vista basic, upgraded my ram from a 1gb to 1.5gb (ordered another 1gb stick) i would have to click 4-5 times just to get what click to load, I cleaned most of the Crap on here disk clean up and defrag it twice, ran ad aware prof, Still sluggish![]()

It's generally unbearaby slow for the first few times you run it as it sets itself up and gets updates. But even after all that's done, it's just still too slow for my taste. My dv6000z was like that when I got it, so I just went to XP.
-
Depending on what you want to do i suggest switching OS's and getting Xp, or Ubuntu. Ubuntu might be hard if your drivers don't support it. Wouldn't know much about that i'm afraid.
-
Ubuntu natively supports just about everything on my HP except front audio and wifi.

hm... its prolly not a good move to match up two different brand sticks... like from the sound of things u kept the one HP gave you and installed ur own 1 gig of RAM... i believe in order to achieve optimal level of performance you have to pair up RAM that comes from different companies/speed/etc. Make sure they're identical =)

@ the OP
was the comp always that slow?
if it was u could try adding more ram to it by removing the 512mb and installing a 2GB module or a 1GB module.
If it was fast when u first got the computer, then maybe try a fresh install?
If you u don't want to do any of those then u can try installing another OS that is more RAM-friendly like win xp. -
My dv6500t with 2gb ram flies on vista so you should have no problems. I would suggest removing the extra 512mb and see if the 3-4 second delay goes away. I would also uninstall norton to see if that helps. That made the biggest difference for me. If that doesnt work, follow the clean vista install thread. Your notebook should fly thru vista.

sometimes there's just too many viruses in the PC, happend to my deasktop pc a few times, i restored it by reinstalling the windwos and it was good as new. Depends if u had this problem to start with.....

I spent a couple of hours deleting bloatware (Norton, BigFix, ebay [ebay!!] etc, stopping unneccesary processes and startup programs, and cleaning the registry of the leftover junk. Also added a 512 stick of RAM (1 Gig total). Her desktop runs fine now; I'd guess you probably missed some of the preinstalled crap, dg. If HP is anything like eMachines (I've never used an HP computer), there's a ton of it built in, but the machine will run great once it's clean. -
I really dont understand .. when everybody has problems with this bloatware and crap then why does HP install them in the first place.
Just provide a CD with an autorun screen that lists the softwares with descriptions. Let the user decide what to install and what not.
Atleast provide a clean Vista installation in the first place. -

The bloatware issue has been kicked around a million times. HP certainly isn't the only builder which installs crap on computers to make a buck (and save a few for consumers). Not long ago, Hard OCP published an article on the XPS 400/bloatware problem, described as being so bad that certain games wouldn't install let alone actually run.
@OP: If you haven't tried CCleaner, you might want to give it a shot. It's a good program and might help in the cleanup of your machine. -
If i do a clean install and used me vista ultimate disc are all the drivers for the 2500t out already? or will it be pretty tough for me to do a clean install on my new 2500t?
-
Please see the clean vista install thread...it answers all these questions already. In short you can use the Vista Anytime Upgrade dvd that ships with the laptop in junction with a backup of a few directories from your laptop to do a clean install with all the hp drivers and apps.
dv2500t really lagging, 1.5 gb of ram.
