I am planning to buy a dv2500t with 8400m video card coz i want the HDMI port. I want to know if it's a quiet machine. is the fan on all the time, or only when it's heavily used?

    Thanks for the feedback.

I have a dv9500t, and the dv6500t and dv2500t are similar with regards to design, just slightly different hardware among the models.

I have to say my dv9500t is like a "phantom" I never hear the fans and find I never encounter heat issues.

The only sound you will hear occasionally is Hard-Drive I/O Activity.

I have a 2500 with 8400 and the T7300. You cannot hear the fan at all unless you are in a completely silent room, even then you have to actually listen for it to hear anhing at all. Most of my time is spent surfing though so machine stays pretty cool because of my lack of intense hard drive programs. So the fan does not need to run as much.

Well, i have a dv6565ca with 8400m hdmi out.... and my laptop is amazingly Loud (due to the fans always running even in power save mode). I don't know if it's common within this serie... but if your searching a silent notebook. This one Aint. And it's far from being library-silent-prof!

alright, so, hp dropped the price like by 150 dollars for the dv2500t , but with an inferior processor 2mb l2 cache, im kind of pumped, they gave me a free 12 cell battery and laptop bag!!! like 200 dollar value, im so glad with this purchase

How did you score the free 12cell and bag? I just bought a dv2500t this week with the lower end processor.

i bought it with a 4mb cache 2 ghz, but i spent 150 dollars more, so i could opt for 80 dollars direct credit to my card, or 200 dollars store credit, obv took the 200 store, i couldve gotten a printer, but i went with the 12 cell and bag instead

there used to be a 2ghz 4mb cache option when i bought it, it cost i think 100 or 50 dollars extra, was a super cheap upgrade. then hp, downgraded some of the processors
