I'm seriously thinking about getting the new Verve laptop from Best Buy. I'm a programmer returning to school. But I'm not so sure about warranty. Is the Best Buy warranty worth it? Has anyone purchased an HP laptop from a retailer and then bought a warranty directly from HP?

    Right now my options are:

    - dv2500t (app) $1103
    - dv2550se (bestbuy) $1099 :D

After the $250 (or 350?) best buy warranty, the dv2550se doesn't look as good  . If I could buy warranty direct from HP, problem solved. :)

    Hello, Artdoorsman1

Im going to be purchasing the dv9548us from CircuitCity. So i was wondering the same thing. I called Hp and asked them my question and they said yes. I beleive its almost like extending the waranty. I just find it better for me to get the warranty from Hp vs CircuitCity. So thats the route that i will go. Hope that helps.

I purchased an eMachines laptop back in 2004 with the BB esp. In May of this year I took it back to BB for it's 5th repair when they told me to go pick out a new one. I ended up getting a DV9335NR at no cost after using the eMachines for almost 3 years. I went ahead and purchased the esp for this HP unit, only cost me $300.

For me it was well worth purchasing the Best Buy extended warranty

As a Best Buy sales employee, the topic of the extended warranty is very debatable. People will tell you not to get it, others will tell you to buy it. All I can say is that while I have seen some people get the short end of the stick, many have saved a lot of money from this. As SECA said, there is a No Lemon Policy, in which if you bring it in more than 4 times, the 5th time they will replace it with a laptop of equivalent value by your choice. While I personally do not buy the warranty due to the fact that I know I will replace it before the warranty is up is why I dont even bother. However for the general consumer it is a safe bet to go with, especially a laptop.
