Well...where to start...
I bought the laptop as a half an year old second hand dv2550se just now in a retail outlet for around USD750.
I noticed I had some driver issues after migrating the laptop from XP to Vista Premium, so I went to the HP support page.
Oddly enough, they told me I should have a geforce 8m series.
The Device manager told me I had a GMA950 installed.
So I went to the web forums/blogs, which all told me I should have a GMA X3100.
And now Im going like WT*...
Here's the specs, BTW
Vista Home Premium 32
Intel Core 2 Duo 1.5GHz
2GB RAM
Intel GMA950
Intel Mobile 965 Express Chipset
other specs omitted
So...what DO I have?
-
Integrated X3100 -
So...
Why did HP put up the geforce 8m driver there?
And why do I have the Device Manager telling me I have a GMA965?
Is that supposed to mean any GMA? -
GMA 965 = GMA X3100. The GPU is bundled with the chipset and the name is sometimes used interchangebly. As far as why HP included the 8M drivers for that model beats me but its most likely oversight by someone considering they sold other dv25xx models with that graphics card. In any case you dont need the nvidia driver but just need the 'mobile Intel express 965 chipset video driver'.
dv2550se graphics card id problem
