I don't mean to be a bother but I figure someone may know here.
I recently purchased a dv2620ca and dual booted it with XP (I figure I'll get used to Vista but I also need XP). Now finding the drivers have been a bit of a pain but I have all but two, one of which (the modem) I know where/how to get I just haven't got around to it and the other is unknown device.
However. I don't seem to be able to control the volume. It won't mute or turn down and its stuck on full. I've tried googling for the issue but haven't had any luck. Has anyone found a solution to this or expecienced it? My sound works great I just can't control the system volume, which tends to be a bit of an inconvience when I'm somewhere that I'm supposed to be quiet and my computer blares the XP startup tone lol.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Thats either your quicklaunch buttons or audio drivers (which is a pain in xp)

I'll assume the audio drivers because even using the XP volume control panel won't let me actually change the sound. It looks as though its been put down or muted but still blares just as loud. I've only found one working audio driver (working after you mod the inf file) so I may be out of luck lol.
Also, another thing I forgot to add is that putting in headphones doesn't seem to work. No noise comes out of the headphones, just the main speakers. I don't know if that will help. It makes me wonder if finding the "Unknown Driver" may be the solution? Who knows. -
Definately a audio driver problem, which is very common for XP. you just need to find the right one
theres been at least 5 threads about XP drivers lately, have a look through them. You are after the Conextant or Realtek Audio drivers. -
Yah I have the conexant "High Definition Audio Bus" or something to that effect. I'm going to try to find another one that will work.

hopelessX have you found a fix for your problem?
I have pretty much the same problem, although I've found some peculiarities with it. It seems the sound works well until I plug anything into the headphone outlet (haven't tested the mic plug). When nothings plugged in, I actually have volume control (this wasn't always so), but as soon as I plug in headphones or speakers the laptop speakers go to full volume (this is the invariable effect, whatever the volume before plugging in, even if the sound was muted).
I've got a dv6610ei with the same connexant high def sound card you do and have also downgraded to XP (which I might add has presented many other teething problems).
Please keep us updated on your progress
