hello! ive recently got a pavilion dv2715ca and have downloaded the CPUID hardware monitor for my HD and core temperatures.

during gaming the HD temperatuers rise up to around 56C (132.8F) and the core temperatures up to around 56C as well. I am curious, are these numbers too high for the laptop? ive been reading around and i heard that the operating temperatures for the HD (btw its 250gb 5400rpm) is only around 55C(130F), but have not verified.

Can someone please provide some links to a source of operating temperatures of cores and HD for me? thanks!

The core temp is good (the fan speeds up at 55C, generally stopping the temp rise by 60C) but the HD temp is higher than I'd like. Still, if it only gets that hot under heavy use but otherwise stays under 50C I wouldn't worry much.

ive checked again and my HD temp actually goes to around 53C MAX. Though this occurs only when switching between levels in KOTOR....

Im curious though, what can happen if the HD stay around the 51C levels for a prolonged time? i only game occasionally, but i really dont want my data to be lost.

can you give me a max temp that you think the HD would be safe around? thanks again

Im quite happy with mine 250gb 5400rpm, its a western digital scorpio model, i think we have the same. Check your device manager under Disk drives, it should say WD2500BEVS, its alot better compared to the hitachi's they normally put in

I have a laptop cooler which blows air directly to the harddrive vent. My temps dont go past 50c at heavy load. It will idle at exactly 40c or sometimes less

The max temp shouldnt go past 55c or be prolonged at those temps.
