hi thr guys, well this time i need help for my friend. he has a dv2700-40ee
he never created recovery dvd's (yes, he's an idiot) and now when his windows crashed, the recovery partition doesn't seem to work either. it's all messed up now.
what options does he have to get his notebook fixed? as we're in pakistan, it's a bit hard to order the dvd's from HP. anything that can be done at home?
    help would be really appreciated.

^ thanx for the link. but i don't get it, the recovery disk that we burn ourselves is almost like of 8GB in size, it's just 120MB
also, how would it restore/install all the HP utilities/drivers etc?

The link tinderbox provided will allow you to try and repair the Vista installation. If successful, you can then boot and burn the recovery discs. Otherwise his only other course of action would be to either order the recovery DVD's from HP or use a retail Vista DVD, install from scratch(drivers and some of the software is available online on HP's website) and then acitvate using the key stuck to the bottom of the laptop.
