so today i went to turn on my laptop and when i pushed the power button smoke came out of the vent...and then nothing happened when i tried to turn on the laptop again. so i plugged in the ac adapter and pushed the power button again and this time sparks came out the bottom left corner of the screen, along with more smoke....and now no lights some on and no buttons work...caled tech support, all they did was take down info...so i tried removing the battery and reinserting it, still nothing. also tried holding down power button and nothing still...so i think i am gonna have to send it back in, and i was just wondering if i would have to glue the stickers back onto the laptop, or would they be fine if i just put the debadged stickers( windows vista, nvidia gforce, lightscribe, intel centrino, warning) in the box???

They don't give a crap about the stickers. I don't know why everyone makes such a fuss about them. Their f-ing stickers for goodness sakes. Eat them.
-
i wonder if your laptop got wet and shorted out. it seems when you plugged it in it had enough juice for fireworks instead of smoke.
i'll trade you my stickers for your asus stickers lithus? how about it? -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Get it exchanged.
-
ya ur right, they just stickers, but just didn't wanna get called on a technicality or somthing, but ya
probably gonna get it exchanged
oh and wasn't wet or anything but i did notice that the ac adapter wasn't all the way plugged in when i first unplugged it -
Just box it up and send back. Smoke and sparks are no joke, let HP replace your unit.
-
you have to mail the stickers to them seprately
make sure they return the stickers after warranty -
really?
(10 char) -
yep removing the stickers nearly voids your warranty. You may get lucky though if you sweet talk to the rep. But you may end up being out of warrant...sucks i know.
-
Relax, he's joking. You don't need these sticker, you can even erase all the symbols on you keyboard - this won't void you warranty.

sarcasm
-
Sarcasm may not be received well when smoke is coming out of your laptop and you have the opportunity to deal with HP Support to look forward to.
-
i wouldn't exactly call it an opportunity. but yeah the sarcasm might not be seen having to deal with support from hp. good luck.
-
arrr well i probably will just get an rma
-
the stickers are a vital component of the laptop
no, but you really don't need the stickers
BTW... smoke? you better get that fixed fast!
