Hi all, first time poster and notebook user, hoping for some advice.
I've had my hp verve for about three months now and noticing a few things that concern me. First, I notice that the left side gets hot above the HD. It's not so hot that it's uncomfortable to me, but I noticed that the keyboard has begun to sink in on the left side, especially around the 4 and F4, then it kind of hills up in the middle (6 and 7 and below) goes back down at the 8 and then evens out. Also, the space bar is slightly raised on the right side. It's a little uncomfortable typing. Not sure if this is normal, or if I should get it fixed.

Second, the LCD on the right side toward the top has a very bright spot about the size of a nickel and another the size of a dime. You can only see it as bright when looking at it from the side; otherwise, it looks sort of grayish there when viewing normally. There are no ripples on the LCD when I press except for the place where those two bright spots are, only they show just when I push in a spot actually a few inches below where the ripples are. I've been pretty careful with the notebook, but wondering if even slight pressure from carrying it in my backpack would have caused this. Also, at the bottom of the LCD, for about an inch and a half, it is the same grayer tone in the place where I usually hold it when I pull it out of the bag--no ripples there though. The gray is starting to bug me, because it's not a very bright screen.

Any idea what caused this, possible solution, or will HP even care? After the horror stories, I'm afraid to send it to them for repair.
    Thanks!

The keyboard isnt seated properly, you just need to reseat it. Have a look at the service manual or call HP for instructions. The heat is normal as the HDD is just millimeters below the left palm rest. Its bad if you got a brand HD like Hitachi, these are known to heat up quite bad.

Im afraid you will have to call up HP on this one, they are quite strict when it comes to LCD's. I suggest waiting till your warranty expires as you might be able to score a new screen

    Thank you for your reply!

Sorry, but I don't understand this part. If I wait until my warranty expires, how does that help me get a new screen? Won't they just say it is too late?

I did call HP earlier about the spots, and they said it was normal. Does your verve have this problem?

Is it getting any worse? You can tell HP its unacceptable

No none of my dv2000's have this problem.
