I am having problems connecting my dv2700t to my Panasonic Viera plasma...before today I could not get a picture on my plasma when I changed the display using the nVidia Control Panel. I contacted HP and the tech sent me some bogus links about how to insert the hdmi cable into my TV (lol) and then how to connect S-video from television to laptop. He also gave me a link for a nVidia driver.
I was able to get it to work w/o installing the driver, and it seems my HDMI port is really loose. I have to hold it in place for it to display on my plasma, otherwise it is really scrambled and discolored or it displays a blank screen.
The HDMI cable I am using is the one that came with my Xbox 360. I tried to use another HDMI port; this one is actually a "tighter" fit into my HDMI port on my laptop, but I cannot get it to display anything on my plasma.
Also, when using the Xbox HDMI cable, the display on my plasma is cutoff on all sides...
My laptop display res was automatically changed from 1280 x 800 to 1280 x 720. I tried to adjust the HDMI signal in the nVidia CP from 1080p to 720p etc... but this did not effect the display...
I am wondering how can I solve these problems and if any other dv2700 users have a loose HDMI port (it has a "clicky" sound when you touch it)

Concerning the screen being smaller, that is based on the graphics card and resolution. Really the only way to help fight that is to check to see if your TV has a zoom feature you could use to blow up the image more, however, this may cause some blur and or distortion. As for the problem with the connection, there isn't much you can do except try another cable that may sit firmer in the slot without wiggling.

1. Your notebook has an HDMI Output Port
2. An HDMI Cable has a connector on each end (no ports on a cable).
Now to your post:

Using the terminology above, is the HDMI Output Port on your dv2700 loose or is it that the HDMI cable connector just fits loose in the Port? I suspect the latter.
If the cable connector fits loose in the port then you have an issue with your HDMI cable. Try another cable, if a new cable is also loose you may have a problem with the port on your notebook. Radio Shack or Frys sell inexpensive HDMI cables.
If the physical port on your notebook is loose to the touch, you need to contact HP for repair.
I have a DV6775 laptop with an HDMI port and the connector end of a Monster HDMI Cable fits snug into the port (it is not loose). -
And to the first post: I don't understand why I should use ZOOM, when the screen it cutoff... I am trying to say that I want to zoom out...
