I just ordered dv2700tse with Vista Ultimate upgrade. Does anyone know if it comes with 32bit version or 64bit version? I think it's 64bit but I am not getting definitive answers from HP over the phone.

Does OEM license for Vista Ultimate only cover 32bit or 64bit for Vista Ultimate and not both?

    Thank you

Its most likely 32 bit, unless you ordered 4gb of ram.

I went on HP's website and looked at their 2700 model laptops, and the Vista Ultimate doesn't say if it is 32 or 64 bit. I would definitely give them call back, because it's sad if they don't even know what they are selling in a particular model laptop.

With an OEM version of an OS, you don't get both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions, it is one or the other. If memory serves me correct, I've heard of people with the 32bit OEM OS getting their hands on a 64-bit version and installing it using the CD key on the bottom of their laptop. I'm not 100% sure though.

If you plan on doing a clean install (which you should do), it doesnt matter what it comes with. You can decide what you want to install when using an install disc. Check out the first post on the sticky about clean installation.

When I create recovery disc from the recovery partition, would that have both versions (32/64) on there?

After being transferred to four different people about this, the last person I talked to was someone from "pre-sales". She had to do some research but she came back and said it was preinstalled with 64-bit.

Your computer will most likely come with 32bit unless hp says otherwise. Your 32bit licence will work on a 64bit of the same version you purchased (basic, home premoum licence)

If your computer came with 32bit then it will only be 32bit on the partition. Unless it says so otherwise.. having both 32/64bit on a recovery partition will take up space

not a hundred percent, but i dont beleive the recovery discs allow you to pick what version of windows to install. the thread at the top titled "clean vistall install with no activation" gives you your options in the first post.
