    dv2700t static sound when on battery power?

    Hey guys. I just noticed a static like sound coming from where the hard drive is. This only happens when unplugged from ac power. Is this normal? anything i can do to remedy this? Thanks!

    Wow this is even stranger. When scrolling through a webpage the static sound dissapears, but as soon as i stop scrolling the static come backs.

    I believe it is somehow related to the display, because when i change the change the display brightness, the interval that goes from bright to dark i also get no static, but as soon as i let go of the brightness slider the static shows up again...

    any ideas???

    poower off the laptop
    unplug it
    take out the battery
    hold the power button for 30 sec-1 min then try it

    dondadah88: I tried your advice.. There seems to be a little less static noise.. I'll report back after a more thorough test.

    spookoman: I'm not 100% sure, cause i've never heard cpu whine, but i'm pretty certain it's something else. plus, like i said in my 2nd post. when i scroll continously through a web page, the noise is gone. As soon as i stop scrolling the static is back.

    that scrolling down the page sounds like you have to update your video card driver what are you using

    dondadah88, the static noise is still there when using battery power. I'm using this driver:

    Nvidia driver version 7.15.11.5665 date 09/19/2007

    I downloaded latest drivers from the Nvidia website, and when i ran it, the installer exit with this message ''there are no drivers compatible with your hardware.

    ps: i downloaded the right drivers, Geforce 8400gs, vista 32 bits.

    yeah because they arent signed and need a mod inf. file. thats why i gave you the website so you can download them
