My friends laptop crashed, so he asked me to fix it. Now after a clean install of the most basic vista version, there are five 'devices' that windows does not know what they are.

    Under Device Manager,
    Other Devices
    Coprocessor
    Ethernet Controller
    SM Bus Controller
    Unkown device
    Unknown device

Also, when i try to instal the audio drivers off of Hp's website, it fails to install and i think this has something to do with these missing devices. Any help would be much appreciated

Did you download all the drivers in the HP website?

I pretty much did, audio, bluetooth, camera, essential updates, media card, quick launch and the software for it, the quick play web update, the touch pad, video and wireless driver. I did not find an ethernet driver on their website. May have found the coprocessor driver though. I know i did not download the fax driver, maybe i should, since that is most likely one of the missing devices?

Hi, I had the coprocessor issue. It was due to not using the specific video driver hp had on their website. If I used Windows Update to install the video driver, I got the coprocessor error. If I installed the driver from HP's website, I didn't get the error. Hope that helps a little.

Did you install the video drivers? Your model uses a unified driver architecture if im correct.

If that doesnt work, download the HP update program and let it find it for you.

You need the Nvidia mobo chipset drivers (nForce). Not sure why it isnt available there...

Can you download CPU-z and post your motherboard info?

We have the drivers for XP located here but i cant find the one for Vista
