HP shoppping's page on dv4000 says it has
    400 MHz front-side bus
but for "Details" on CPUs, text for the 1.6 & 1.73 list a 533 MHz frontside bus - ?

One thing that bugs me about the Dell I use today is
    vibration & heat
under left palm. Does the HP dv4000, or dv1000, have *any* of this?

Lastly, does anyone have experience with the faster 5200 rpm disks?

The specs on HP's page aren't quite accurate for the dv4000. Until recently, it showed 2 USB ports but it has 4. It also shows a 1GB RAM max capacity but it supports up to 2GB.

The faster chips should be the Sonoma chipset and 533 MHz FSB (you can search in other topics about this).

I haven't had any vibration issues so far. It gets warm in spots when it's been used a while (and when the fan starts up to vent heat).

As for the drive, I went with the 5400RPM HDD. I hate waiting and performance bottlenecks, so I couldn't see going with a slower drive. It's nowhere near as fast as my desktop but it gets the job done.

    Hope this helps!
