    dv4000 build/ship times

    Hi,

    I'm leaving on a two-month business trip on October 7. I was planning on buying a dv4000 tonight, but decided to post here first to see how long it's been taking people to receive their built-to-order dv4000s recently. I'm glad I came here first, because I hadn't heard about the x700 option - I'm definitely going to wait until the 28th now.

    If you have ordered a custom dv4000, how long did it take to arrive (and what part of the country are you in?) Do you think I'd receive it (in Las Vegas, NV) by October 7 if I order on the 28th and get the 2-3 day shipping?

    Well if you order on the 28th, it still has to come over from China. It say the 17th of October on HPs website right now for the build date. You could wait to see what BestBuy/Circuit City has going, but then you are stuck with 4200RPM hard drive most likely. You could upgrade it yourself though. Good Luck.

    Very wise to wait for the new version, but as far as when it'll get here, well your guess is as good as anyone else. I too am waiting until the 28th to order (and plan to do so very early that day, so you may want to set your alarm to beat me to the punch :) and I would suspect that there will be a large initial rush on this new offering. I'm led to then assume that there will be a slight delay above-and-beyond the "normal" lead time to ship the new releases.

    That being said, I know I didn't help with your question, but I'll just say that if you wait for the updated offerings from HP you'll not regret it! Patience Danielson, patience....

    If it's up at 12:00 midnight 27th, I'll be the first in the world to get one=P
    Otherwise, I usually wake up at 12pm, so I might just be the last lol.
