Hi. I'm considering to buy a dv4t laptop, so I'm researching very hard to find the best options for me. Now, some people here, including miner, helped me choose the CPU for my dv4t.

However, there's another problem. I want to purchase a high-capacity 6-cell battery and a 12-cell battery, but It seems like HP currently doesn't offer any 12-cell batteries for the dv4t and dv5t series.

So, I decided to learn whether 12-cell batteries for the dv2000 series can be used for the dv4t or dv5t series.

I contacted HP via e-mail three times, and they never satisfied me! :(

Do you think I need to call HP? I think they will offer 12-cell batteries for these laptops soon, but it is really funny to know that HP, which is the largest IT company in the world, is that much unprepared. Also, I find a lot of errors on their website.

    Anyway,
    Here are their responses.

Thank you for contacting the HP Home & Home Office Sales Center.

I understand you are inquiring about the batteried for HP Pavilion dv4t notebooks. I would be happy to assist you in this matter. This notebook comes with a standard 6-cell Lithium Ion battery. We also have available high capacity 6 cell Lithium Ion battery. Please refer to the link below.

Thank you for contacting the HP Home & Home Office Sales Center.

I understand that you are considering to purchase HP Pavilion dv4t Notebook PC at the HP Home and Home Office Store, and you are inquiring if it uses the same types of batteries as the dv2000 series. I have checked my resources here and confirm that the HP Pavilion dv4t notebook uses a 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery or a High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery. From my review I can say that both HP Pavilion dv2000 series and dv4t use the same 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (the same specification). But for safety reasons, I cannot recommend that you use the battery for dv2000 with the dv4t notebook. I cannot say if the architecture of the 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery of the dv2000 is the same with the 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery of the dv4t. I cannot find a document from our resources stating so.

Thank you for contacting the HP Home & Home Office Sales Center.

I understand you are considering the purchase of a new HP Pavilion dv4t at the HP Home & Home Office Store. Based on the information you supplied to us, you need to know if there is a 12 cell battery recommended for the model. According to my research, the only battery available is the 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery and High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery.

To protect your investment, I also suggest you purchase an extended service plan to upgrade and extend the manufacturerÂ’s warranty straight through HP. There are various options available ranging from 1-4 years.

also, i know that the 12 cell would, but do the hi-cap 6 cell batteries make the laptop much heavier, or do they add any weight at all?
