Hi guys, I just got my dv4t and I am very happy with the laptop as a whole. However, my wireless has been slower than what I'm used to. Does anyone here have problems with their Intel 5100? The laptop came with version 12.0.0.73
I'm downloading a new driver off of intel and it's 12.1.0.14, I'll see if there's any improvement
I hope this will work because the driver file was only 5.5mb and it took **** near 15minutes to download!

You know, I've noticed that with my Intel 5100 AGN as well on my dv5t. My old dv6700t with an Intel 4965 AGN got me 200 mpbs with my wireless n router. This new one, 5100 AGN is only getting 72 mpbs. It's ridiculous.
What could be wrong? It could be the drivers or it could be some incompability with my router as my second guess.
I even tried the ones from the Intel website, same results. Downlaods are fast, but the connection is just waaaay more than half. -
Yeah I just downloaded the new driver and it's helping a little, still not up to par with my old laptop...
How do I check if the router is compatible with my wireless? I have to admit it's a tad old. I wonder if the intel site will recommend any... -
Well it really depends. The new wireless n routers have issues with certain routers. Have you tried updating your router?
Maybe, it's time to upgrade. Do you have a wireless-n router or a b/g one? What brand? -
i like have sort of the same problem..
i got the 5100 AGN and have a linksys WRT150N hom entertainment router.. and ony get 65Mb/s... it's like stupid for god sake.. any one knows a solution?? -
A friend of mine has a broadcom version of the wireless n and is getting 200 mbps. This is really stupid.
Maybe Intel should make their own wireless access point/routers. Geez, it shouldn't be this hard, it's been 3 years since they been trying to standardize this wireless-n crap.
(sorry to just take over this thread with this quesiton, but does hp/fedex ship on saturdays? the case manager said that i should get my replacement notebook this saturday. Left Alaska early this afternoon. -
I get 1.25mbps or sumthin
my router is the worst ever!! as long as it isn't a problem with the laptop ur good
-
I have a linksys B router. I dont mind getting a new router since this one keeps breaking down on me.
But if I'm going to get a new router, I wanna get one that will work with me.
I'm really shocked about this issue, since I've always heard decent things about Intel wireless. [honestly though, not many people bad mouths their wireless, regardless of which brand/model, they have always worked right out of the box] -
well i was 2 and a half ours with linksys support the guy i tlaked to was very n ice, he's going to bring this subject to his supervisor and maybe he knows a solution, the router is working i'm thinking it's the intel 5100 card that's the problem.. because the max were getting is 65MB/s

65mb/s will not affect internet speeds.
Just file transfer between computers on the network. -
So i fixed my problem.
The card was not compatible with my old router. I got a new router and I'm very happy now -
Can you please post what type of router you bought, brand model? maybe a site would be nice.
Thanks
Thanks for the links -

Just so everyone knows that Say Chin Sin Lo's internet was slow because he had an antiquated Wireless B router. Him upgrading will have no affect on those of you receiving 65mb's... or even those of you with wireless G.

I chose the cheaper HP WLAN/Bluetooth combo and I an surprised with its performance, speeds are better than my previous laptop. kinda surprising the Intel would be slower

dv4t... slow wireless?
