I have set aside a partition for my windows xppro installation, and whenever I boot from the disk I get a black screen right after Press any key to boot from cd...

I am booting off a disk with slipstreamed SATA drivers ( I have tried 3 different versions of XP and several CDS) but I cannot get far enough to load the drivers.

after several minutes I get the blue screen....(000x.... the hard drive error)
Is this because I have vista on another partition? If I switch the XP partition to active and try from there will I be able to return to vista if the install doesn't go well?

    thanks in advance.
