    dv5000 fan really got loud

    any1 have any power tools for winxp or something that I can control the fan with? When the thing is going slow it makes a werid sound now that i have had the notebook for like a month

    Unfortunately, there isnt much one can do about controlling the fans in most laptops. If it is possible check to see if there is anything loose and dust. If the fan is still making annoying noises then you could try a replacement. You should expect some noise from the fan though, I dont think they can ever get totally silent.

    The fan on my dv5000z is very quiet. I can barely hear it, but it still keeps my notebook cool. If I were in your situation I'd contact HP.
