Hello Friendly HP Subforum!![]()
With a few weeks still between me and the release of the Asus w3j that seems to have taken a stranglehold on notebook reccommendations, I have begun scanning backup choices should the first few reviews of the w3j be..well, bad.
One of the main competitors that arose in my mind was the dv5000t, which, from what I have heard, has an incredible battery life. For me, battery life is one of the main priorities of having a notebook, and this quickly drew my attention.
Now, i'm not sure if any 5000t's have been shipped, but if they have, does their battery life live up to the 7+ hours (12 cell) that they have been boasting?
Also, I'm a little bit concerned about the weight of the laptop. As a young college kid w/ a strong back and a ton of energy, should the 7lb form factor be a major problem? I'm a fairly strong guy and find it hard to imagine 7lbs making much of a difference after lugging 15 lb books around campus, but it never hurts to ask. For anyone who has ordered/recieved theirs, does the weight bother you?

But a 7lb notebook added to 15lbs of books means 22lbs of junk to carry around. That's a 50% increase. Also, it's not a question of whether or not you can carry it around, but which is easier to carry around.

Yes, this I know, (though it's not 15lbs of books, but a collection of textbooks each weighing 15lbs.
I'm just curious as to how much the weight might bother someone who already has the notebook, or if it does at all.
