Hi guys. Been happily using my dv5000t for about a month now, but just today it has started concerning me. The first thing is the sound. When I close the lid, and then re-open it, then click to log myself back on, the sound comes up about one minute later. The sound no longer works in iTunes or WMP after I close and then open again. And also, the sound in either is hit or miss when I first start up.

The other thing is that the Appearance settings will switch to Windows Classic style, and right before I closed the lid and moved down to my couch (where I am writing this right now) I couldn't switch back to Media Center style. When I sat down and opened back up (along with not being able to play audio), I am able to switch back to Media Center Style.

I'm starting to worry now, and I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else or anyone has any ideas.

    Thanks! :)

If you have only had it for a month, then I suggest contacting HP custumer support.

HP has one of the worst reliability ratings according to Consumer Reports. So does Dell, and I have a Dell.. it hasn't givin' me huge problems yet =p

And another thing... I get an error on startup about svchost.exe and having to debug the process or something like that. Can't remember exactly.

When I can't hear the audio, there is no audio device found in the audio properties window. When I can hear it, the Conextant HD Audio appears...

I think I'm going to be giving HP a call on Monday. What can I really expect though. All they're going to do is fix a messed up computer and it could possibly come back worse... Maybe I could ask my co-worker that has one heck of an attitude call them and take care of it for me :p

Okay, so the sound issue is directly linked to svchost.exe. Whenever the dialog comes up and before the dialog comes up, everything is okay, after I respond to the dialog, my sound device magically disappears!

    Can anyone help me here?
