I was wondering if it were possible to upgrade to merom in this laptop? Also, what can you upgrade without voiding your warranty? Also, can I upgrade the warranty after purchase?

What is the general consensus on this laptop as well? I've seen very few reviews, but so far it at the top of my list.

Merom replacement should be posible. As for as if it will work 100%, that remains to be seen.

Upgrading the RAM and hard drive(in most cases) should not void the warranty. Anything else will certainly void it.

The warranty on any HP model is upgradable upto 1yr or until the yime the standard warranty expires.

We know the chipset will take it, the real question is will the bios support it. I have had 3 HP notebooks with a 64 cpu but none will support a Turion.

Notebook makers like to make you buy new, not upgrade. I would buy a 5000 today if I knew that the bios would see the Merom and support it.

I don't think the Memron perfomance gain is significant to an extent where you would replace it in a laptop. I would stick with the one it has, and later maybe sell it and buy a new one (if you really really want a Memron).

I guess "Memron" doesn't boast a significant performance boost, but what about Merom?

There is a huge difference between Yonah and Merom. Merom is the same core as Conroe. Better do some checking before posting misinformation.

I just don't think that HP will support it in the bios until they start using it.
