One of my laptops that was bought a few years ago, an hp dv5120us, is having a problem where it burns out hard drives within days of them being put in. They don't go bad outright, but will rapidly become slower to the point where it can take upwords of half an hour to boot the OS from. Audio/video also stutters terrably.

I was wondering if theirs any known cause for this in the dv5000 series notebooks, and/or any fixes I could try. I've dissasembled the unit to look for any obvious anomalies, but have thus far come across none.

Have you checked the temperatures of the drives?

    What drives did you use?

Download HWMonitor and keep track of the temperatures.
