Hi there. I own a dv5 1160us for more than 2 years now.

Unfortunately I come here to search for help. Almost 2 weeks ago I traveled and I left my laptop at home. When I came back after roughly 12 days I noticed that on boot it said the serial number was not found. I didn't gave it much importance. The next day when I brought the laptop to work I tried to connect it to the local network via ethernet and I couldn't. Then I tried other spots without any luck. I can't use ethernet since that day. Also, it feels slower than before both for everyday work and gaming (i.e. I reached around 45-50 fps i WoW with a little more than lowest values, now I reach around 25-30 with all set to thge lowest).

I tried reinstalling drivers, reflashing BIOS, reinstalling Windows. I'm out of solutions. I'm thinking about taking it to technical service (not from HP, since they don't have one in my country) but I'm afraid they just say it's a motherboard issue that can't be fixed.

Anyone can offer any advice on this? Is it something totally unheard of?
