Hello folks!
Finished my reformat of my dv5t laptop last night, installed the HP drivers, installed Vista Ultimate, etc. Looking pretty good so far.
However, under Device Manager, I have three items called "Base System Device" that do not have drivers, and are unknown as to what they are. I've seen some threads here where this is mentioned, but not a resolution.
Also, is it possible to use the fingerprint reader to manage user accounts, rather than having to maintain passwords? I installed the drivers for the reader, but not sure where to go with it next.
Overall, two minor issues on a very impressive laptop. I'm not experiencing the heat issues spoken of in the summer, either. Only other negative would be the battery life, but I knew that ahead of time (and to be fair I was running installs which meant the hard drive was chugging throughout).

I am wondering if you downloaded the correct Media Card Reader driver for your notebook. I noticed there are two available. After doing some reading it seems that most people having "Base System Device" problems have attributed them to the Media Reader.
Also, just to make sure, does your Webcam work as it should? -
Thanks, but yep - It is.
