So my dv5t has Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit installed a while back and I've noticed that there's a lot of static, popping, crackling noises that randomly occurs during playback. I have the latest audio driver, IDT 6.10.6242.0. There's no power management turned on and I don't know what else to do. Anyone have a similar problem and found a solution?

Ok so you've checked the power management setting in the IDT control panel (both of those boxes should be unchecked), your drivers are good... Probably a hardware issue. Call hp.

Classic DPC latency case. Update wireless drivers and disable nVidia Powermizer if you have a nVidia card.

    How did you disable Powermizer?

Edit: So I tried disabling through the registry from this post: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=261929, but I'm still getting static and popping. I have Intel 5100 version 13.0.0.107 drivers and Nvidia version 186.81 drivers so it should be the latest drivers.

Okay, using DPC Latency Checker, and disabling my wireless card through Device Manager, I've isolated the problem to my wireless card or driver. What version of the driver do you have? I think mine's the latest one.

EDIT: It may not be the DPC Latency since while it's under the threshold when the Wireless is disabled, there's still popping and static noise.

that popping/static noise is still there, it's just less frequent, that's why I thought it was gone.

I've update everything i could but for somethings is can't find the driver. for example, I've search for the Intel ICH8 usb host controller drivers; i can't find any. I read in another board that windows 7 suppose to include these drivers, but when i check the driver details in device manager they're dated to 6/21/2006!

I've restarted the computer, and it seems to lower the frequency as well, even though the DPC latency still has the same rhythm of red bars.

In my case I've narrowed it down to the Nvidia driver. I disabled it and the static stopped completely! Upgrading to the latest one or even disabling the powermizer wasn't working for me.

The downside of it is you can't use any of the "aero" effects anymore.

And you can't play any games anymore. Are you sure you disabled the powermizer properly?
