For those who are unsure about the 5100 card, you have nothing to
worry about. Since receiving my dv5t, I have taken it just about
everywhere, to assess the wifi performance.

At one of my local Starbucks, I can pick up seven networks, most
secured from various businesses in the area. Since I don't have a
broadband card for the Starbucks AT&T and T-Mobile, I have been
logging onto the Staples HotSpot network, which is three doors down.
Signal strength is four bars and very fast, due to the Staples N-class
router. I am quite amazed at the connection quality, considering the
distance and the number of walls penetrated by the signal.

Today, I tried another Starbucks and my only choice was to connect
to a guest network at the hospital across the street. I was still able
to pull down three bars and a great connection without any dropouts.
According to my best estimate, the hospital was at least 175' away
    from Starbucks!

In conclusion, the dv5t and 5100 wifi card work like gangbusters. I
am very satisfied with the performance, so far.

I don't think it's getting hot, at all. I've been monitoring my temps for
a couple of weeks, now, and it hardly even gets warm to the touch.
My dv5t has the 25-watt P8400 and X4500, which, I'm sure, helps to
    keep everything cool.

hey, how about the x4500 performance. We have bought a dv5t for my brother but it is fully loaded with 512 graphics etc. and I want to buy dv4t p8400 3gb 250gbhdd 5100agn just like yours. But I am not sure about the graphics card x4500 or nvidia9200 dedicated. I never play games. I will only use hdmi port, because I download movies and watch them on my lcd tv by using the hdmi port on my computer.

so What do you think about x4500, on the hp website it says if you get nvidia you will get firewire port and 10/100/1000 ethernet. So does that mean that you dont have any of those?

Works awesome here too! It's a pain in the butt for Linux, as support was just added last week, but other than that, fine. I drove around a few parking lots on my lunch break last week and was able to pick up quite a few hotspots myself. I'm pleased with the performance.
