I got my dv5t a few months ago, but if I wanted to swap out the current DVD-ROM drive in it with a blu-ray one that they offer -- where do I get one? Can't find one on HP's site to just buy and swap out. Someone must sell them... where at? Anyone know?

    Thanks!

Try ebay...usually sell parts there from owners who broke their notebooks but still have working components...such as drives.

i was cuirous about that also, since the dv7-1177ca come with blue ray and the same specs as my DV5. maybe sometime next year will the price go down will it be worth it. Also, on that note about upgrades on the DV5. Anyone know if they can accept Fast DDR2 ? or are they limited to DDR2 800mhz? I had a Acer notebook I was doing an instore setup on at work and it had 4GB DDR3 1066mhz and the 9600M GT DDR3 that I wanted on my HP. But the CPU was only the T5800 which is kinda stupid if you ask me. A cpu FSP with only 800mhz and the RAM has a 1033mhz FSB, so maybe kidna pointless? Wish i could squeez DDR3 on my DV5 to match the P7350s fsb. :p

somehavoc, if you get 1066mhz ram, it clock down to 800mhz automatically, which sucks!

Unfortunately, you can't change the multipliers on HP notebooks through the BIOS because they lock out the advanced features.

Stick to 800mhz, as that is the only thing it will support at the highest.
