I have a dv5t with an eSATA port and an external antec enclosure with a sata harddrive in it. It works really well but it freezes my entire computer every half hour of so. Sometimes it makes my display driver stop also. I didn't know if there is a better sata drive or a way to make the computer not try to access the harddrive if I'm not trying to get a file off it.

I have the same issue. It seems that disabling/ejecting the DVD drive prevents this problem. I am also curious if there is a better solution.

Do you have all the latest drivers here?

Wow the latest driver seems to have fixed it. I know I did this 3 months ago and it didn't work but who knows this is a new install so maybe that has something to do with it.

On another front now my audio is jittery. I can't tell if its iTunes or the computer. iTunes seems to skip audio when it uses more CPU but its not doing anything but playing the song. I have 3 GB of ram and a 2.56 GHz processor and somehow I can't play a song without skipping.
