I've been trying to search for any threads regarding heating issues on the dv5t, but haven't had much luck. Anyways...

Does anyone own, a dv5t with the 512 and can say anything about it, heat wise?

    Thank you in advance!

Yeah, it heats up pretty quickly.
I propped up the back end on a binder so more air would flow, but my experiences of it on my lap tell me that this laptop should always be put on a table.

If you read through the Official DV5T owners lounge the heating issues and temps are all discussed there. Basically it gets up to 90c (give or take a few) which is pretty hot, but not dangerous hot. All you need to do is lift up the back 1/2 in. and the temp will drop 5-10c.

Chaz will have a in-depth review of the dv5t up this week or so.

I suggest you wait for this.
