    Greetings all...

My dv5 ships with BIOS version F.09A.

Few days ago I saw that there has been an update to the BIOS, that is, the version F.11A. So I downloaded it and then I flash my BIOS.

Please let me state that since the first day I use my laptop, I intentionally set the "Fan always on" setting in BIOS to "Disabled".

I found out that the new BIOS will make the fan spin more often, slightly louder, and longer on each spin (is this my feeling or anyone else experience the same?)

So I decided to downgrade back to F.09A.

The funny thing is after I downgrade I found the icon on the taskbar. The "Safely Remove Hardware" icon. I don't connect any external hardware to my laptop.

When I click on the icon it says "Safely Remove OHCI compliant IEEE 1394 controller".

When I formatted the computer and perform a fresh install the Safely Remove Hardware icon will display another device (SD Controller). Clicking on any of them (SD Controller or IEEE 1394 controller) will "ejct" both and the icon will disappear.

Now. The most interesting point is that the icon will appear on every single BIOS flash available (yes I tried every single version). It doesn't appear on the latest BIOS.

I am very sure that the main culprit is the F.11A BIOS.

Does anybody experience the same problem as me? Or anyone know what is this problem all about and/or any solutions to this problem?
