i have a dv5t and downgraded to xp...i can't get standby mode to completely work. for example standby on my dell laptop and desktop go like this

computer basically "turns off" and only until you hit the power button it turns back on. laptop cooler turns off

what it's like on the dv5t

computer basically "turns off" but once i touch the touchpad or press any button it automatically turns back on. the laptop cooler also stays on which clearly shows it's still on

    help?

There is either hibernate or sleep on vista while on XP it is standby. Hibernate turns off power completely. Sleep used very minimal power.

the computer is off [in sleep mode] but the usb slot are still powered thats all. you just need to go the the power management and change the usb power off when sleep mode is active.
