to begin with, i HAVE searched, but i want to clarify couple things since some of the posts are old

my dv5t that is 11months old has been having flickering issues for like the last couple months. random lines just start appearing or screen goes dimmer, and it usually is fixed but just moving the screen back and forth. no idea what causes this. so i read other people have had the same issue and have sent it into hp, which fix it temporarily but the problem comes back. so my questions include

    1. by now, does hp fully fix this problem yet?
    2. what is usually the turn-around time? if i sent my laptop out on monday, when would i expect to get it back? i'm from TX btw
    3. do i have to pay for shipping to ship it there? or will they cover that?
    4. will my harddrive been reformatted when i sent it in?
    5. can i remove my harddrive before i send it in (to verify i still have all my data)? where is HD located?

think that's all my questions so far...thanks in advance!

I am in Canada and have had to send my laptop in a couple of times (not for this issue), hope my answers help.

Even if HP doesn't repair it completely start the repair process while it is under warranty as they will give a extended 90 day warranty for the same issue.

    1) If they don't fully fix the issue there is the back to back repair policy
    2) I have sent my laptop out on a monday and had it back by the end of the week sometimes the week after.
3)While it is under warranty HP should be covering the cost of shipping and repair.
    4) BACK UP EVERYTHING, they may decide to reformat your computer. I would also take some pics of the condition your laptop was in prior to sending it in and when you get it back the box is in poor condition.
    5) I would leave it there is case they want to see if it is a software issue, even thou it doens't sound like it is.
