the quickplay buttons are pressure sensitive, so if you have really oily or sweaty fingers, then wipe them off before touching the buttons, otherwise you will have problems, also dust ive noticed can set them off so make sure the next time it starts doing this again that you just take a clean cloth and wipe them down. That is all folks...

I have the DV7T in hand. I can confirm that the QuickPlay is buggy.

Someone posted in an earlier thread about the touch sensitive buttons that uninstalling the HP Quick touch software should solve this issue. The quick touch software is what runs the on screen volume up/down confirmations which in itself is pretty buggy.

Yeah. Had the same problem on my dv5z, only it kept doing it even after I restarted the laptop.

Plain and simple uninstall the quick touch D2 (something something) software that controls the on screen volumes as miner said.

Did you try this solution? I'm still waiting for my dv5z, but recalled seeing this thread while researching it.

The quicktouch program HP provides on the latest models are quite buggy and is known to crash when changing volumes. It just freezes the system.

The solution is to uninstall or disable Quicktouch. Personally i just use the QLB drivers that never came with Quicktouch.

This is the second time this has happened.
My volume starts going up and down on its own, and its shown on the volume thing, the arrow shakes up and down.

i think it may be heat, messing with that button.
but why none of the others.

but i cant change the volume with the touch buttons..
    anyone else have a problem?

*note: my laptop is currently raised about half an inch up from the back to let heat out. I am not plugged in.
