Hello, i live in california, i've had my dv5t bought online for a while now, probably around 9 months, and the whole time i've noticed my right speaker is all crackly/staticy, especially when listening to music, watching videos with bass or when someone is talking like on cnn news. Up until now, i've been ignoring it or just use earphones, but now it is kind of bugging me, and i think i should get it fixed before my warranty goes off, but i have a few questions.
How does the warranty process actually work? Do i just call them and send my laptop to somewhere in a box, or do i have to physically go somewhere to get it fixed?
Also, how long does the whole process take? I'm kind of worried about this because I start school in a month, and I need my laptop before I go off to college.
And i've heard terrible things about HP's customer service, so i'm kind of hesitant...any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

You ship the unit in, and it takes anywhere from 2 weeks to forever before you get it back.

it could be returned in less than 2 weeks, certainly. you know, i originally ordered a dv5t CTO. it came right out of the box with a crackly right speaker. after a few hours on the phone with tech support, customer service, i finally got over to a case manager and got a well upgraded replacement dv7t. +processor, GPU, blu-ray, 2-year ADP, bluetooth headphones, quickdock, extra battery
