The "z" is AMD, while the "t" is Intel. The dv5t offers the 9600M GT graphics card, which is more powerful than the HD3450 offered in the dv5z. The Intel models generally get better battery life as well.

If you are on a short budget, the dv5z starts at a cheaper price....

They differ in the processor that they have. The Dv5z comes with AMD Puma processor whereas the Dv5t comes with Centrino 2 Intel processor.

In terms of usage, the intel can handle multitasking better and is a 'bit' faster. But normal usage wont see much significance in AMD.

While Dv5t has an option of 9600M GT also to consider if you're a gamer.

All other specs can be configured the same on both models.
