Yes, but unless you have the 64-bit version of Vista you will not be able to use the RAM above 4GB.

Yup... but 4GB is already very good. Most people will only need 2GB-3GB.

So you seem pretty confident the HP DV5Z supports 8gb (2x4gb) or ram. Have you successfully added 8gb's to a DV5Z, or know someone who has? HP states it only supports 4gb total, but I know how marketing works and if it's not a purchasable uprade on their site, it's "not supported". Normally BS. Most desktop's with the 780G chipset supports 8gb's, so if I had to guess it does support it.

Can anyone CONFIRM that 8gb's of ram is supported, and if so what speed is it running at? 667Mhz or 800Mhz? Thanks!

    Hi,
The HP spec sheet I glanced at noted 8GB capacity. My personal DV5z has 4GB and I don't feel compelled to upgrade it at this time.

    Crucial's website state 8GB maximum.

BTW - The DV5z series come with PC2-6400 DDR2 (800MHz) memory but is backward compatible with slower memory speeds as well.
