I'm not sure if this was posted before. This video basically shows the hd video decoding of the amd's hd 3200 vs intel's x4500. http://blip.tv/file/1129114 Let the flaming begin!

note to self: dont run cpu heavy programs while watching movies on the intel

why did he keep saying 100% though and then the camera zooms in and its at 66%?

AMD's run at lower clocked speeds. The 2.1 is considered a higher end CPU within AMD guidelines. An Intel C2D at 2GHz is a lower end CPU. You can't really compare the two, it wouldn't be fair.

yeah, high end amd beats low end intel in video decoding. big surprise.

even so, its really more a GPU comparison than CPU. the intel chipset isnt as powerful and offsets more of the load on the cpu than the ati solution.

from a customer's standpoint, you can and should compare the two, especially if they are similarly priced and are going to to be used for the same purpose. a customer won't care whether its a high or low end processor, as long as it does what they want it to do within a certain budget. in that respect, i'd say AMD wins the low end budget everyday use laptop market.

    It's a two sided debate.

They aren't really similarly priced. AMD is cheaper than Intel, which is one of the main reasons they are popular. AMD gives you more bang for the buck in basic computing.

The X4500 shouldn't even be in a computer lol
