am new to this forum and this is my first post. Am about to buy a dv6 (model no not sure. i only noted down the details which were displayed. most likely dv6-3139tx). i7 720QM, ATI 5650, Bluray, 15.6 inch. While googling for further details, I came across this pdf for dv6 3000 models from HP which says the maximum resolution for external monitor is 1600x1200.
HP Pavilion dv6-3000 Entertainment Notebook PC series (Data sheet/c02202428.pdf)

Got me wondering what exactly they are referring to. Is this abt the VGA port or the HDMI? Can anyone please clarify this for me?? I know ATI 5650 can pump out more than that via HDMI. Is there any restrictions applied to it from HP in dv6 model??

also how good is the dv6 laptop screen? I havent seen it running yet.

thanks to all replies in advance.

I'd be interested to know this too, means you get the best screen that suited to the max res. I want a new screen anyway.
I'm not that fussy about the laptops screen itself but it's clearly an average one.

The screen is average at best. Picture quality is not crisp at all and resolution is OK. If I could have upgraded the screen, it would have been a must-have.
