I just bought a dv6-2190us and I love the laptop but the screen quality is horrible.

In white areas of the screen, instead of the display being pure white, it is grainy instead, with very faint vertical lines running up and down the screen, becoming more noticable as the viewing angle changes vertically. This drives me crazy as I work with text for a living and screen quality is critical to me.

The screen quality of $399 Compaq CQ60 is head and shoulders above this.

I've tried calibrating the screen, verifying that it's in native resolution, etc, etc to no avail.

I dont think the problem is isolated to my laptop because I checked some other dv6's at bestbuy and saw the same problem.

    Any ideas?

    Steve

I decided to go for battery life over power, so i bought an Acer Timeline 5810TZG as you can see in my signature.

It`s a pity i thought the DV6 Quad was a beautiful machine, but the screen was really bad, I tried to live with it but i couldn't.

Oddly enough, I noticed this problem on other manfacturer's 15.5" laptops at BestBuy that I looked at, but none were as bad as the dv6 line. Some I had to tilt to see the problem. I even saw the problem on a sony.

I wonder if these screens are are made by a common manufacturer and HP decided to buy the cheapest model/lot.

I did NOT see the problem on the HP dv4 or dv7 notebooks.

I did NOT see the problem on the toshiba A505 15.5" line

I DID see the problem on sony, Gateway, and Dell 15.5 laptops (though not as severe as the dv6... as noted, I sometimes had to tilt the display to notice).
