    dv6-1216sa keyboard removal ?

    i have to replace the keyboard on my dv6-1216sa out of warranty
    does anyone have instructions on how to remove it plz

    DV6 and DV7 are quite similar and it isn't much time since I last opened a DV7... I'm also too tired to search for Service Manual from HP website. It's late here :)

    So: First remove battery, under it there is probably few screws that hold the upper part of the top cover in place.

    Then remove the top cover part between keyboard and display, it should now come easily off since the screws are removed. Be careful not to yank it out, usually there is couple cables attached and you don't want to break their connectors.

    You can leave the top cover part connected with the cables, just move it enough so you can reach the keyboard screws (at least DV7 had screws) and open them. Then slide the keyboard away, unlock the keyboard cable.

    Assemble in reverse order.

    You should look for Service Manual from HP support website. DV6-1000 series is the correct one I think. They should all have same chassis.
